FACES OF A MODERN RESISTANCE
Hong Kong 2014, November.
Occupy Central is a civil disobedience movement which began in Hong Kong on September 28th, 2014. As an extension to the class boycott initiated by student groups in Hong Kong, it called on thousands of protesters to block roads and paralyze the city's financial district after Beijing and Hong Kong governments do not agree to implement universal suffrage for the chief executive election in 2017.
About this series: they are young and relentless, they are an entire dynamic and dauntless generation of pro-democracy citizens which persists in the spirit of peaceful resistance. Thanks to them the political business in Hong Kong will no longer be as usual, no matter what will be the future of the Occupy Central movement.
Unlike their parents and grandparents, most of the Occupy Central protesters have grown up middle class in a city with good governance. Well-educated, well-traveled and well-informed, they strongly disdain the authoritarian government they see in mainland China.
